Build My Yogurt Bowl
Updated: Jun 19
Yogurt bowls are one of my favourite breakfast meals. They're so quick and easy to put together, taste absolutely delicious and with my chosen toppings, have a great amount of nutrients!
Some mornings I get up and knowing I have endless todo list for the day ahead. Breakfast is always an important meal for me as I feel it sets me up for the day. If im rushing and forget breakfast or just grab a banana on my way out the door it usually tends to have a ripple effect on the rest of my day. Where as, when I eat a proper balanced breakfast I feel energised and satiated enough to kick start me into being more productive and having more energy.
Saying that doesnt mean every breakfast needs to be a full english or a stack of pancakes. Those meals are great but sometimes theres just not enough time to make them. I save those meals for the weekends! This yogurt breakfast bowl can be thrown together in under two minutes and tastes great!
These bowls are super fun to put together and can be adapted for different diets.
For example, if you are on a ketogenic or low carb diet you can swap out the granola and berries (depending on how strict you are) for some nuts and seeds. Almond's and hazelnuts work really nicely in this bowl.
Each layer provides one of the macronutrients to make this a well-balanced meal.
. Greek yoghurt makes a rich and creamy base and is high in protein, adding defrosted strawberries gives it extra sweetness and a pretty pink colour.
. Chia jam, which is mostly made from chia seeds provides an excellent source of omega 3 fatty acids. They also have lots of fibre so will keep you feeling nice and full until lunch.
. The berries are this bowls source of micronutrients and add lots of vitamins and minerals such as vitamin C and vitamin K, as well as adding to the fibre content. They are also super sweet and delicious this time of year!
. The granola brings us to our last macronutrient, carbohydrates. Most granola or muesli are made with oats which is a brilliant source of slow-releasing carbohydrates. It also adds a delicious crunch to the bowl.
Now you have a delicious and easy breakfast that can be made super quickly and set you up for a brilliant day!
