Homemade Blackberry Chia Seed Jam
Updated: Jun 23
This recipe is for all the jam lovers out there!
I absolutely love jam! I can have it with everything (well, not everything but lots of things). I found this amazing recipe from one of my favourite food bloggers, Lacey Baier and had to try and make it myself! I slightly adapted the recipe to make it slightly lower in calorie but very sweet.
To make this jam I used:
120g blackberries (I used frozen blackberries as it's a little cheaper than fresh)
25g 0 calorie sweetener (I use NKDliving erythritol)
1/4 cup chia seeds

My favourite thing about this recipe is the use of the chia seeds. Chia seeds swell up and expand when they are added to water and left to soak. This gives a really lovely texture! Chia seeds are a great source of Omega 3, protein and are packed with fibre which makes them a great snack to keep you feeling satiated for a long time!
Lacey has made lots of different fruity flavours, I went with blackberry as I had lots in my freezer!
The recipe is great as its so naturally healthy. As we are nearing summer and fruits are tasting sweeter, the added sweetener is not essential if you are going for a more natural Jam.
Here are two yummy ways to enjoy chia jam.
Classic pb and jelly toast made healthier using home made chia jam.
Or, for a yummy snack pair the jam with greek yogurt.
